From now on, anyone who registers their COVID-19 symptoms and contact details with the NHS 111 online service will receive daily updates via text message from the NHS. The messages will act as regular check-ins, ensuring that individuals receive the support they need during social isolation.
If you have symptoms of Coronavirus and wish to receive these daily text messages, ensure that you go to NHS 111 online, complete the assessment and leave the necessary basic information such as your age, contact details (mobile number) and information on when your symptoms started.
Signing up for this service will also enable the NHS to improve understanding of the virus in terms of its progression and spread.
If you do not want to receive text messages, you are able to opt out at any time.
“I know all too well that experiencing symptoms can be worrying, but for those living on their own it will be even more so. Alongside other measures, this new daily text service will reassure our most vulnerable that they are not alone, and also to help them manage their symptoms.” – Matt Hancock, Health and Social Care Secretary
