You can make an appointment with a GP by telephone on 01392 211266, online, or in person during opening hours.

If you have been asked to book an appointment with our HCA or one of our Practice Nurses, please telephone the practice. HCA and nurse appointments can vary in duration depending on the procedure required, therefore we ask you to telephone us so we can book an appointment of the appropriate duration.

Our opening hours are as follows:

Southernhay House Surgery

Friday: 8:00-18:00
Weekends: Closed

Whipton Branch Surgery

Tuesday: 8:30-18:00
Wednesday: 8:30-17:00
Thursday: 8:30-16:30

Weekends: Closed

You can also book a telephone appointment with a GP by contacting the surgery.

Routine appointments are usually 10-15 minutes. A small number of appointments are available to book on the same day for problems that are medically urgent. We would ask all of our patients to try and avoid phoning the surgery between the hours of 8.00am – 9.30am, unless the call is medically urgent as this is our busiest time.

We also have late appointments from 18:30 – 19:30 between Monday and Thursday specifically for patients that are unable to attend during the day.  We ask that these are not used by patients that are able to attend during our usual clinic times.

Please note if you are going to be late for your appointment, the clinician may not be able to see you.  We advise all patients to arrive promptly for their appointments.  Please note, parking at Southernhay House Surgery can be difficult as there is no designated car park.

Practice nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.

Note that blood test appointments tend to only be offered in the morning. If you are booking a blood test with our Phlebotomist or one of the Practice Nurses, please let us know if you are prone to fainting so that we can book you a slightly longer appointment.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
